Restaurant Interlude Wins Fourth Consecutive Michelin Star

Streeter Family's Restaurant Interlude Wins Fourth Consecutive Michelin Star

Penny Streeter OBE, the owner of Restaurant Interlude, has once again made history as her vineyard restaurant wins the Michelin Star for the fourth year in a row. The restaurant is located in the historic Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens near Horsham, West Sussex, and is one of the first UK restaurants with its own vineyard to win this prestigious award.

Penny has been credited with the creation of one of the UK's most innovative and luxurious dining experiences. In 2018, with estate general manager and executive chef Jean Delport, she opened Restaurant Interlude at Leonardslee House. This followed extensive building works to create a modern kitchen and restore the guests' dining room, which retains many original features of the Grade II Listed mansion house and has stunning views across the estate.

As a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur, Streeter had previously worked with Delport at her restaurant in Somerset West, Cape Town for several years. She was keen to introduce his refreshing international style of cuisine to the Sussex estate, which combines perfectly the traditional with the modern to create a distinctive, innovative style that has won awards and impressed critics and diners alike.

Within just ten months of opening, Delport and his team achieved a prestigious Michelin Star award for Restaurant Interlude's multi-course tasting menu. Inspired by the Grade I Listed woodland gardens, ingredients are foraged or grown on the 240-acre Leonardslee estate, with other produce sourced from selected local farms, all individually visited by Delport.

In 2022, after further extensive renovation and upgrading of facilities, new luxury accommodation was created on the first floor of the mansion house. This has enabled guests to enjoy an overnight stay after dining at Restaurant Interlude, which can include 18 separate courses during the evening.

The rooms take their design theme from the beautiful Grade I Listed gardens, featuring the fabric and wallpaper style of ten quintessential British interior design houses. The Johnston Parke Interiors studio and architects Gould Baxter oversaw the creation of these bespoke bedrooms, creating an immersive experience for guests, with classic themes by some of the best-known and loved British designers.

Penny Streeter's dedication to providing guests with a unique and exceptional dining experience is evident in every aspect of Restaurant Interlude's success. From the innovative cuisine to the luxurious accommodation, her vision and commitment to excellence have made Restaurant Interlude a truly unforgettable destination for food lovers and travellers alike.
