Experience the Royal Magic: Kings' Coronation Celebrations

Penny Streeter’s wine and hospitality estates in South Africa and the UK are celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III, which visitors can experience on Saturday 6th May and the holiday weekend.

Penny was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2006 New Year's Honours for ‘Services to Enterprise’, recognising her outstanding contribution to UK industry as one of its most successful women entrepreneurs.

The Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey. The service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, reflecting the Monarch's role today and looking towards the future while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.

Leonardslee Gardens

In the UK, guests visiting the Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens Coronation celebrations in West Sussex can now admire the newly restored Coronation Garden, initially established to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1952.

To celebrate King Charles III's coronation, the venue will offer various activities, including picnics in the updated gardens and a specially designed themed menu for a Coronation Classic Afternoon Tea - brought to you by the Michelin star team of Restaurant Interlude - and children's craft workshops, all promoting sustainability and the King's emphasis on the natural environment.

The Grade I Listed botanical gardens, situated on a 240-acre estate, play a crucial role in preserving rare flora and fauna native to the UK and endangered ecosystems worldwide, according to estate general manager Adam Streeter:

"In celebration, our garden team is restoring and replanting the Coronation Garden, originally designed by the former owners, the Loder family. The garden showcases the renowned rhododendron Loderi King George, created by Sir Edmund Loder, along with over 30 other rhododendron hybrids featured on the estate.

"Additionally, the gardening team is introducing a new collection of Magnolia trees. The restoration process has also uncovered several forgotten specimens, such as a Monkey Puzzle and a Eucalyptus tree.”

Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens is also developing a 'dry' garden bed that displays plants capable of surviving in hot and dry conditions with minimal irrigation. The garden team selected a location adjacent to the Courtyard Café and Welcome Centre that receives full sun exposure. The goal is to encourage visitors to address environmental challenges in their own gardens due to the changing climate.
